Here is a fun activity to keep yourself busy on the weekend or to fill your spare time. Coming up to valentines day this is a great decoration to make and hang around your house and get everyone feeling the love! You can choose your own selection of colours to match or contrast where you want to hang it. You can use different materials however the felt works well as it lasts and doesn’t fray. Have fun making your on creation of hearts this valentines season! Watch my video here to see how I make them!
YOU WILL NEED:
Selection of different coloured felt
Thread to match or contrast with your chosen colours
- Start by cutting out your heart shapes in your chosen colours, the size of the hearts depends on the size you want the garland to be. You can use a template or cut them by hand. The amount of hearts you need depends on how long you want the garland.
- Set up your sewing machine.
- Place two hearts side by side to start and sew in a horizontal direction through the hearts lining each one up side by side as you go. Make sure to leave a piece of thread on each end to hang your garland.
- Hang your beautiful garland for everyone to see!
You can use any material you desire from coloured paper to lighter materials such as cotton, wool, velvet, cloth etc. However these materials may fray.
You can also make other shapes on your garlands depending on the season. Other garland ideas such as Shamrocks for St.Patricks Day, Easter Eggs for Easter or Pumpkins for halloween. The list is endless!
